The explosion occurred shortly after, causing injuries to an estimated seven firefighters, with three requiring immediate hospitalization.
The remaining injured individuals received on-site evaluation while awaiting further medical assistance. The cause of the fire and the circumstances surrounding the explosion remain under investigation by the LAFD.
