Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo will square off
Finally, in Saudi Arabia, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo will square off.
Inter Miami reaffirmed on Monday that they will take part in the Riyadh Season Cup, following the announcement made on November 21 by Saudi authorities. Inter Miami claimed that the information at the time was untrue.
On Monday, the Major League Soccer team revealed that they will take on Al-Hilal on January 29 and Ronaldo’s Al Nassr team on February 1. The Saudi Pro League is led by Inter Miami’s two rivals, and Ronaldo leads the league in scoring.
The sporting director of Inter Miami, Chris Henderson, stated: “These games will be a big test for our team, which will help us in the coming season. We are eager to play top teams in our group, like Al-Hilal and Al Nassr.”
Over the last few years, Messi and Ronaldo have played 35 times in club and national team matches. Messi’s teams have won 16 of those encounters, while Ronaldo’s teams have won 10. The teams have drawn nine times. Ronaldo has 20 goals and one assist in those games, compared to Messi’s 21 goals and 12 assists.
After moving to Major League Soccer (MLS) in the summer, the Argentina World Cup winner has pushed for tourism in Saudi Arabia. In May, he was barred from entering the nation for an unofficial trip with his former team, Paris Saint-Germain. He also participated in PSG’s 5-4 victory over the SPL All-Stars team in the Riyadh Season Cup earlier this year.

But when Messi left PSG at the end of the previous season to choose MLS over the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner, it was unable to entice him to the oil-rich state.
Messi and Ronaldo, who faced off for the sport’s most coveted trophies during their peak seasons at Barcelona and Real Madrid, are regarded as two of the game’s all-time greats.
Four preseason games have now been announced by Inter Miami. The first is on January 19 against El Salvador’s national team, and the second is on February 4 against Hong Kong’s best players’ team. It is anticipated that the MLS season will begin at the end of February.”
